Vol.3 “MIRRORLIAR FILMS Season2” Takayuki Yamada exclusive interview

"MIRRORLIAR FILMS" is a borderless short film project created to bring the opportunity and charm of film production with the aim of discovering and fostering creators. Shinsaibashi PARCO conducted an exclusive interview with Takayuki Yamada, one of the producers and starring in Season 2 "The Little Star". When I talked, I came to see Mr. Yamada's belief in the Japanese film world.

―Is there a difference between working as an actor and working as a producer of "MIRRORLIAR FILMS"?

Yamada: The actor becomes the person himself from the script. Producers have to decide everything about planning, casting, budget, PR, etc. in the creation of their works. I'm in the same space, but it's a completely different job. However, there is no difference in the attitude of creating a single work.

―Have you ever felt something while actually making your work?

Yamada: For decades, as an actor, I was in a movie production place in front of the camera, but when I went around behind the camera as a production side, the way I looked completely different. I was glad that all the people in the field worked together to propose ideas and create one work in the same direction.

―In this project, there are many people who will be the first director.

Yamada: In Season 2, Kou Shibasaki, Jun Shison, and Shinnosuke Abe are challenging the first coach. Everyone said, "It was really fun! Thank you very much for inviting me!", So I was glad to offer you. Increasing the number of movie friends is also the significance of launching the project, so it's best to have fun.

―I heard that you filmed "The Little Star" in Sakai City, Osaka, but how was it?

Yamada: There were people who were eating in a place like the market, but "Yamada-kun! Let's take a picture!" There are a lot of people who speak casually. I felt that it was the land of Osaka. Actually, season 1's "Righting, Woman" (directed by Masaharu Take) was also filmed in Sakai City. Sakai City seems to have been attracting hundreds of movies so far, and I thought it was a very good city with many locations suitable for location.

―For the first time, you appeared in the work of Kazuaki Kiriya.

Yamada: I'm always a person who always makes works with a magnificent world view, so I wanted to work with Director Kazuaki Kiriya once. I did my best in the action scene. It's a short film, but the Kisatoya-gumi has a large number of scenes anyway, and the shooting period was longer than I had planned, but I think I was able to work on it while having fun.
