Vol. Koichi Sato and Takayuki Yamada perform “MIRRORLIAR FILMS Season 2” Stage Greeting Report

"MIRRORLIAR FILMS" was launched in 2020 with the concept of "the curtain of an era where anyone can make a movie."

Prior to the release of Season 2 from February 18 (Fri), stage greetings were given at SPACE14 on February 15 (Tuesday) Shinsaibashi PARCO 14F. Yukiko Mishima and Hiroichi Sato, who starred in two films "Imperial Osaka Dojima Ikibashi" with Osaka as a location, and Takayuki Yamada, a cast of "The Little Star" and one of the founders of the project, took the stage. In addition, Mr. Senko Ikenobo, the source of the Japanese flower arrangement world, "Ikenobo", and Mr. Shuhei Matsuyama appeared as a special guest from "THINK AND SENSE", which develops projects that make full use of the latest technology. At the same time, "Moments of Life Ikebana x Movie x Art" will be held at the same time as "Moments of Life Ikebana x Movie x Art". ("Moments of Life Ikebana x Movie x Art Fusion" has ended on March 1 (Tuesday).)


The movie "Mirrorriar Firms Season 2" will be released on February 18th.
It was screened at THEATUS Shinsaibashi on the 12th floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO.

ーHow do you feel about the upcoming release of "MIRRORLIAR FILMS Season 2" from February 18th (Friday)?

Mishima: This time, in Osaka, we will be able to show a work called "Imperial Dojima Iriguchi Bridge", which is set in Dojima. For the first time in my career as a director, I made a work in my hometown. It is a movie like a private novel, so I hope you will enjoy it.

Sato: About three years ago, I met Director Mishima at the home of actor Shigeo Harada. "If you want to make a movie, call me out," and I decided to appear in this work. Of course, I was able to perform with a very good sense of tension, but I think that it is a very interesting opportunity for us film people to enjoy secondaryly because it also leads from the work to expressions other than movies.

ー How about Takayuki Yamada, who appeared in "The Little Star"?

Yamada: In fact, I decided in my heart that I would never take action again. However, I worked hard with my body to create a work by Kazuaki Kiriya, who always creates works with a magnificent worldview. I would like to see many people about the last action scene in my actor's life. Also, it was my first co-starring with Marika Matsumoto for the first time in 21 years, but there was no dialogue in the script, and I think I was able to perform like a tremendous live session on the spot. "Isn't Takayuki Yamada actually a surprisingly good actor?" I hope everyone will notice.

Thank you very much (laughs). How did Director Mishima start making films for "Imperial Osaka Dojima Ikibashi"?

Mishima: The film began with a statement from my mother who is currently at the facility saying, "I want to eat a hamburger at an Imperial restaurant." Shall we go after a long time?……And when I headed to a shop at the foot of the entrance bridge, I was inside. There was a note that the store was closed two years ago. Just because the owner was a childhood friend, I contacted him immediately and heard that he was "closed." When she said, "My mother really wants to eat hamburgers," she said, "It's okay, I'm still making Demigrass sauce," her childhood friend told me. When I heard that word, I felt like I was really touching something like a small light as I lost a lot of things in the corona vortex.

- Your thoughts on your mother were the origin of your work.

Mishima: So, before the Imperial store disappeared, before it was destroyed, I started production thinking that I had to make a movie. In the work, I thought about the composition of seeing a man's life while walking about 800 meters from the Imperial to Kitashinchi Hondori. I tried a long run that can be said to be reckless, more than 11 minutes in time. It's a very difficult role, so I thought that this could only be done by Hiroichi Sato, and suddenly I remembered what I talked at Yoshio Harada's home and offered it. I told you, "It's a difficult performance," but I was happy to accept it.

ー Mr. Sato, how was the length of over 11 minutes?

Sato: Oh, I don't want to say much because if you say it's great before the screening, if you say it's great, it's a great deal of hurdles.……。

Yamada: I told you a lot.

Sato: Mr. Yamada, I thought I could say so much.

(All laugh)

Sato: There is a question about how long I can talk before the screening, but when the director turned over as a back story behind the shooting, he was told, "I really want to shoot with the light at 4:10 am at dawn." "Is this a one-shot game?" On the first day, when I tried shooting, the director didn't cut it. When I thought, "Is this OK?" he said, "Can you let me do it again tomorrow?"

ー What?……。

Sato: To be honest, I have a feeling that it's tough.……。 But what I did for two days without compromise is reflected in this film. I dare to raise my own hurdles. Think so and look forward to it.

How did the two of you guys watch the movie?

Ikenobo: I felt that the freshness of the short film was condensed. Living is anxiety, joy, sadness……And I think it can be done by moving my mind. By all means, I hope that each and every one of them will interpret their own according to their own minds and feel the sense of moving their minds.

Matsuyama: It's a frank impression that I want to see every piece again. As Mr. Ikenobo said, I think there is an interpretation of each person. I think that it is a characteristic and cultural thing of this work that is not to enjoy it as a one-sided entertainment expression with answers, but to actively capture and enjoy the work from yourself. I felt that the goodness of the margin of such short film was included in the whole work.
