Vol. Koichi Sato and Takayuki Yamada perform “MIRRORLIAR FILMS Season 2” Stage Greeting Report (February 2)

ー As the project's first attempt, "Moments of Life" will be held to display Ikebana inspired by movies in spatial production of digital art. It is a space-time museum, what kind of exhibition is it?

Matsuyama: Each of the nine short stories of "MIRRORLIAR FILMS Season 2" will be exhibited in a video space that makes full use of the latest technology by creating ikebana. In many movies, there are many works on the theme of life, but Ikebana is also an art that deals with the life of plants. The expression will change every moment during the exhibition period. That's why I called it "Moments" which means the moment. I think it is very unique to be able to make a completely new attempt as a mash-up of three different expressions, so I would be happy if you could see it by all means.




ーIkebo is said to have created Ikebana with the motif of Mishima's "Imperial Osaka Dojima Iriguchi Bridge". What kind of thoughts did you create it?

Ikenobo: To live is to have a heart. So, I expressed my feelings and conflicts in the work. The shop you are used to is gone. A sense of loss as if it can happen to anyone and you are stripped of a part of your life. There are worries and sorrows, but I came to create the terribleness as a creature that I would like to live tomorrow with my thoughts from choosing flower materials.

ーThis time, you have chosen the flower arrangement artists from the public recruitment.

Ikenobo: We agreed with the purpose of free creation that transcends the boundaries of "MIRRORLIAR FILMS", and we were invited to the general public. There are elementary school students among the members.……It is a challenge that is completely different from ordinary exhibitions, and I am very excited. Ikebana's history is very long, but I think you can see completely new expressions created by the latest modern technology. It is also a very big challenge in the expression of ikebana, and I feel that traditional culture will evolve in a new way.

ーHow about Mr. Mishima to hear the story now?

Mishima: I haven't seen the work yet, so I'm looking forward to meeting you anyway. You can usually respond to movies only from what you wrote on your expressions, words, SNS, etc. However, I think it's a tremendous honor to be able to convey what I felt in a different form of ikebana in this way. After watching the movie, I would like you to visit Ikebana's exhibition and have time to reflect on how you feel. If so, I think you will be able to get richer things.

ーWhat do you think of such a project that transcends the boundaries of the Jungle?

Sato: I think it's very fun to inspire each other. The history of our film is only 100 years old. The history of kata and ikebana is 1,000 years old. That’s where digital technology is added. I don't know if the expression of fusion is correct, but various forms of culture overlapped. I am very happy to be involved in this new approach.

ーPlease give me a word for those who watch the movie.

Sato: I want you to enjoy the fun and difficulty of this film because it is a short film. For the sake of shaku, the setting and the background of the person may be omitted. But what did you feel from the nonexplanatory part and how did you perceive it? It may be difficult to talk as a time of life, but please talk a lot on the Internet.



Mr. Takayuki Yamada, who was also the producer and starring of this project, please give me a few words.

Yamada:……In the script, it says, "Please answer easily" about this novel exhibition, but it is not easy to answer. Fusion, cool, I want to see……If you were relaxed thinking, "Okay, let's say so," Mishima said "cool" and Sato said, "It's a bit different from the fusion." When I was thinking about what happened, I wasn't sitting right, but my right leg was numb. So, at least in front of the media and in front of you, you know that you can't ask me a difficult question. But when I see the real thing, I'm afraid that something new will begin in me.



ー Finally, please give me a word about the movie "Mirroriar Firms Season 2".


Yamada: In this season 2, Shinnosuke Abe, Jun Shison, Ko Shibasaki and others are challenging the first coach. Not only the director, but also the staff and the cast, everyone is making works with various thoughts. I'm very happy to see the work, but why you made it, what you want to convey, and why you participated.……If you want the viewers to take a step further and take care of the filmmakers so far and the future, I think that we will end up with the happiness of our expressors.
