Vol.3 "MIRRORLIAR FILMS Season 2" Takayuki Yamada Exclusive Interview (January 3)

Vol.3 "MIRRORLIAR FILMS Season 2" Takayuki Yamada Exclusive Interview

"MIRRORLIAR FILMS" is a borderless short film project created to deliver opportunities and charms of film production with the aim of discovering and fostering creators. Shinsaibashi PARCO held an exclusive interview with Takayuki Yamada, one of the producers and starring in the upcoming season 2 “The Little Star”. As I talked, I saw Mr. Yamada's belief in the Japanese film world.

―Is there a difference between working as an actor and working as a producer of "MIRRORLIAR FILMS"?

Yamada: The actor becomes the person from the script. Producers have to decide everything in planning, casting, budget, PR, etc. in their work creation. It’s in the same space, but it’s a completely different job. But there is no difference in the attitude of creating one work.

―Have you ever felt anything while actually creating your work?

Yamada: For decades, as an actor, I've been in the movie production field in front of the camera, but when I go around behind the camera as a production side, the way I look completely different. I was glad that all the people in the field worked together to propose ideas, and created a single work in the same direction.

―In this project, there are many people who will be the first director.

Yamada: In Season 2, Kou Shibasaki, Jun Shison, and Shinnosuke Abe are challenging the first director. Everyone, “It was really fun! Thank you very much for inviting me!” he said, so I felt good to offer it. Increasing the number of movie friends is also the significance of launching the project, so it's better to enjoy it.

―I heard that "The Little Star" was filmed in Sakai City, Osaka, but how was it?

Yamada: There were people who were eating in a place like a market, but they said, "Yamada-kun! "Let's take a picture!" there are many people who are kindly talking. I felt that it was the land of Osaka. In fact, Season 1's "Running Woman" (directed by Masaharu Take) was also filmed in Sakai City. Sakai City seems to have been attracting hundreds of movies so far, and I thought it was a very good city with many places suitable for location.

―For the first time, you appeared in Kazuaki Kiriya's work.

Yamada: I'm always a person who makes works with a magnificent worldview, so I wanted to be with Director Kazuaki Kiriya once. I also worked hard on the action scene. Although it is a short film, Ki Satodani Gumi has a large number of scenes anyway, so the shooting period was longer than I planned, but I think I was able to work on it while having fun.
