Hiroko Nakamura (hereafter, Nakamura): I would like to learn again what kind of change is taking place throughout my life. Mr. Yoshida, an obstetrician and gynecologist, would like to explain.

Masahiro Yoshida (hereinafter referred to as Yoshida): There is a hormone called "estrogen" that makes feminine. This hormone changes dynamically according to the growth and age of the body, but among the many hormones in the human body, hormones that make such a big change are very rare. Peaks peak at the sexual maturity period between the ages of 18 and 45, and the number gradually decreases. This hormone is also a very important hormone that makes women's skin shiny, but it can also be bad. "Estrogen" comes from a part of the ovaries and is a hormone in the body from the moment she was born as a woman. It is gradually secreted from the time of adolescence, and mechanisms such as encouraging ovulation every month work. Did you know that the ovaries are as small as the thumb?

Chiaki Ito (hereinafter, Ito): What? Is it such a small thing?

Yoshida: That's right. It plays a role in bringing dramatic changes to the body, and other hormones are secreted from the ovaries, such as progesterone.

Ito: Looking at the graph, the hormonal numbers are changing with a large curve like a roller coaster. When I think that is happening in my body, I feel once again that the female body changes greatly depending on age.

Nakamura: This time, I would like to talk about the many problems for each woman's life stage, symptoms to be aware of, and how to deal with them in three parts. First of all, “physiology” is common in puberty and maturity. Mr. Ito has also experienced menstruation, but do you have any problems?

Ito: Before menstrual period, PMS (premenstrual syndrome) or emotional instability or frustration. When it comes to menstruation, my stomach is heavy on the first day and the second day, and sometimes I stop with pain. When there is a lot of bleeding, there is a lot of blood, so I don't know if it's good or bad. There's no pain, and I'm worried that I can leave it alone. I wonder if everyone has that kind of problem. It's hard to hear about menstrual problems, isn't it?

Nakamura: How do you deal with physical problems?

Ito: I want to eat sweets and greasy foods, but I try not to take them as much as possible. Do you not drink ice-filled drinks to keep your body cold? Because I work in front of people, I will return to my body what I'm doing, so I'm working with a positive attitude to do as much as possible.

Nakamura: It's very professional! I have a habit of eating infinitely potato chips and chocolate during menstruation…。

Ito: I know! When I notice it, I eat a bag of potato chips (laughs). Too much patience can be stressful, so I try not to overdo it.

Nakamura: Is there any problem in the body when it comes out like a lump of blood during menstruation?

Yoshida: It's a question that I often get to see. In some cases, youth may be affected by the amount of menstrual blood mass, such as the amount of menstrual blood, and the amount of menstrual blood decreases over age, so there is basically no major concern. Nevertheless, some uterine fibroids may be hidden, so if you are worried, please feel free to consult.

Nakamura: Some of the guests said, "I'm in trouble because of severe physical pain. I was advised to take a pill at the hospital, but I am worried because I do not want to rely on medications."

Ito: I know very much! It's very scary at first because you put it in your body. When you take it for the first time, how will you change your body? What's worse than what's good, isn't it?

Nakamura: Even though low-dose pills help relieve menstrual pain, in Japan, side effects tend to be concerned about and the image that "pills are not very good" is preceded. When I was a student, my menstrual pain was so severe that I fell down, but I felt that my life had changed 180 degrees since I took the low dose pill.

Ito: I have taken a pill since I gave birth. At first, I was worried that if you drink too much, it will be difficult to work, but when you actually take it, there is nothing wrong, and the PMS is a little stable. But I stopped taking it because it was a burden to receive a prescription or take it at a fixed time.

Yoshida: We often hear about problems related to menstrual pain at our hospital. In addition to pills, there are improvements in lifestyle habits such as Chinese medicine and exercise therapy to deal with menstrual pain, but it is not easy to work immediately. Pills can significantly improve menstrual dyspneasis. However, the pill has good and bad points, so when prescribing to the patient, we explain it properly and make sure that it is understood. The advantage is that students are important before the game or exam. In addition, taking a pill is effective in important situations such as the stage, play, and travel. If you are concerned about side effects, there is also an ultra-low dosage pill, but if you forget to drink it, you may cause irregular bleeding, so you have to consider the merits and demerits.

Nakamura: It is important to consult with your doctor properly according to each lifestyle. "I feel sick and irritated during menstruation. How can I reduce it?” he asked. Mr. Ito often works in front of the camera, such as dance performances, but how do you deal with it in such a case?

Ito: I will do my best as I can, but I think it's almost impossible to control my emotions perfectly. So you try not to blame yourself. When I was in my twenties, I blamed myself because I thought that emotional instability and irritability were caused by my weakness and lack of responsibility. But that’s going around and hurting yourself. I think it's an important point to think about yourself.

Nakamura: When I was active as a group, there were male members, so I guess there were many difficulties?

Ito: At the beginning of the formation, I regretted that the worries about the woman's body were hard to say, and I was frustrated and thorny words. Even when I get used to the activities, I sometimes get hurt by the words that the male members cared about. There were times when it was difficult to balance your mind.

Nakamura: At that time, did you have any items that you loved to relax?

Ito: In order to control my emotions, I used backstage to make my favorite scent and ask male members for information.

Nakamura: It's also important to share without hiding it. Here are some recommended femtech items to relieve your mood during menstruation. During menstruation, you may be worried about smell and steaming. In such a case, we recommend a mist item "Tomorrow I will climb a persimmon tree". When spraying directly into the sensitive area or replacing sanitary products, just attach it to toilet paper and fill it out. By using these items, I think you can be able to be yourself and control your feelings.

Ito: I wanted to know when I was in my 20s when I was performing live performances like this. It was steamed with sweat during the live performance, and sometimes it was worn during menstruation. At that time, I didn't have any knowledge, so I couldn't find any options. Now, we are in an era where you can choose such a femtech item, so I hope everyone will use it.

Nakamura: Other femtech items include water-absorbing shorts and menstrual cups. Menstrual cups are said to be the third sanitary product, and recently they can be used in hot springs, pools, and baths. It can be used when taking a bath with your child, so it is an item that many people want to use. "Welpa" also handles many brands, and you can actually try on water absorbent shorts. Have you ever used water-absorbing shorts or menstrual cups?

Ito: I like to use water-absorbing shorts. I've never leaked before, I don't care about smells and steaming, and I no longer use napkins. Shorts have various shapes, so if you are interested, I would like you to try various things. But I've never used a menstrual cup. I actually see the items and know that there are various brands, but I don't know which one suits me. How do you all choose?

Nakamura: "fermata store in Welpa" is a question often asked by customers.

Ito: Maybe it's better to choose something that doesn't make you uncomfortable.

Nakamura: Menstrual cups have different hardness depending on the brand, so it is recommended to take them at the store. It is an item that you can use comfortably if you get used to it, but this is one of the options. I hope you can choose it when you want to use it comfortably, rather than forcibly using it.

Nakamura: Many women have physical problems. From the perspective of an obstetrician and gynecologist, are there any illnesses or symptoms that should be noted from puberty to maturity?

Yoshida: Even if you use a pill, sexually transmitted diseases cannot be prevented. Recently, there have been reports that syphilis reactions have increased, especially among young women. In our hospital, when prescribing a pill, etc., it also explains that sexual intercourse without contraceptives may cause illness. The pill prevents pregnancy, but does not prevent sexually transmitted diseases. I think we need to spread more correct knowledge. In particular, even if syphilis is cured, a positive reaction will appear throughout life, such as during pregnancy and childbirth.

Ito: Do you mean you won't be cured?

Yoshida: It will be cured, but a positive reaction will remain. Syphilis is a disease that should be noted for those who are considering pregnancy because there is a risk of mother-to-child transmission. In addition, herpes infection, once infected, the virus lurks in a place where nerves gather, so it often recurs when immunity falls. If a herpes infection occurs during childbirth, it can also cause very serious problems to the fetus. You may have no choice but to suffer from such a disease, but I want you to value self-management.

Nakamura: Cervical cancer has become a major problem recently.

Yoshida: Cervical cancer is getting younger year by year. What is called "HPV" and human papillomavirus is thought to be transmitted mainly by sexual contact and sexually transmitted diseases. Early detection and early treatment is an important disease, so I would like you to have regular medical examinations.
