Interview with FACETASM Designer Hirori Ochiai (March 3)

Interview with FACETASM Designer Hirori Ochiai

Hirori Ochiai is a designer of Japan's leading brand "FACETASM" and oversees FamilyMart's original "Convenience Wear" that started in 2021. Ochiai and Osaka don't feel very connected, but in fact, they have been familiar with Osaka for more than 20 years. On the day before the release of the FACETASM capsule collection, we talked to Ochiai, who visited the Shinsaibashi PARCO store, about fasettaism and other creations, as well as Osaka.

—This Shinsaibashi PARCO store will be the first directly managed store in Kansai, but please tell us why you chose this place.

Ochiai: I'm from Itabashi, so I often went to Ikebukuro PARCO from elementary school. When I was in high school, I could also have an edged PARCO called P'PARCO. I say too much every day, but since I went there really often, PARCO has always had a close feeling. Three years ago, I heard that a new and slightly special PARCO will be available in Osaka. Originally, I wanted to have a store in Osaka, which I was familiar with. The timing was very good.

—How fast are you going to Osaka?

Ochiai: That's when I was in my twenties, I came every month for a party organized by EY Accountants. A hotel on Ajien (the deep spot representing Osaka)? Is it a ryokan? A friend lived in a friend. Have you been here about once every three months since this PARCO store was opened?

—Finally, are there any shops or spots that you often go to in Osaka?

Ochiai: The name of the shop doesn't come out, but when it comes to Osaka, curry is delicious, so I often take my friends with me. It's sticky, but also "New Light" from Amerikamura. There is a menu called Ceylon Rice like curry, but when I come to Osaka, I often eat it. After that, even though I didn't have a moped, I got a large license after I was over 40 years old, and started Motocross two years ago (laughs). There is a very large off-road course in Nagano Kawachi, and we do it about once every six months.
