What is the pop-up store "SUMMIT QUALITY" by "I & I STORE" in Shibuya, Tokyo? (1/5)
"I & I STORE" is a second-hand clothing store in Shibuya, Tokyo, packed with items that feel skating culture centered on used American and European clothes. The store’s pop-up “SUMMIT QUALITY” was held from July 10 to 19 at the event space on the basement floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO from July 10 to 19. In addition to "I & I STORE", we also participated in 3 shops + 1 brand, including "DAILY DOSE quality stuff" from Osaka and Horie, Osaka, "ECHOES" from Zushi, Kanagawa Prefecture, and "Tento", which develops handmade knit hats. Fixtures such as lights and chairs that color the space will be selected by the antique shop "CopyArt Collective", which is scheduled to open in Amerikamura, Osaka in August this year, creating a space where you can enjoy accessories and furniture as well as clothes. The lineup carefully selected according to the image of Shinsaibashi PARCO was very interesting, and the event ended with great success.
This time, we interviewed the staff of three shops + one brand who opened the store together, led by Teru Tanami, the signboard staff of "I & I STORE", who also works as models and DJs. He shared his thoughts on the present and events of Osaka seen from the young fashion icons of Tokyo. Please pay attention to the fashion that reflects each style!

―First of all, please give me a brief introduction to the features of "I & I STORE" and this pop-up.
Tanami: "I&I STORE" is a shop that mainly focuses on American and European clothes and import. We handle items that give you a sense of culture, carefully selected from a unique perspective that is not washed away by the times. This event is called "SUMMIT QUALITY", and it is a pop-up event that "I & I STORE" holds irregularly. This event was held for the first time in about six months, and in addition to the “DAILY DOSE quality stuff” which was also opened at the previous Shizuoka PARCO, our sister store “ECHOS” and handmade knit hat brand “Tento”. The furniture was selected by CopyArt Collective, an antique shop that is scheduled to open in Amerikamura, Osaka in August this year. The details have been carefully selected to create an attractive space.

―What prompted you to pop up at Shinsaibashi PARCO?
Tanami: Originally, my owner's friend had a connection with PARCO. Thankfully, I felt that we had the opportunity at Shinsaibashi PARCO this time.

―How do you feel when you stand in the store and feel the atmosphere of Osaka?
Tanami: The basement floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO, where the event is held, is directly connected to the station, so it is an impression that there are quite a lot of people. Customers passing through the aisles are various in men and women of all ages. I'm always in the area of Jinnan in Shibuya, so it's very interesting because the customers are completely different.

―Have you ever felt anything about the difference between Tokyo and Osaka fashion?
Tanami: Unfortunately, there is no sightseeing at all because it is Corona.……。 I think the fashion of people who come and go around the city is a little different from Tokyo. Even if it is a little difficult to move in Tokyo, there are many people who are feeling wholehearted with the mind of "fashion is patient". On the other hand, Osaka seems to have a moderate feeling of “not working too hard”.

―I see, that's interesting. What part exactly is it?
Tanami: For example, it is like "I don't wear heavy shoes because it's hard to move" (laughs). There are many people who ride bicycles in Osaka, and I think there are many people who enjoy fashion that is easy to live according to their lifestyle. When I talk to you, everyone is good and friendly, and fashion and personality may be natural in a good sense.

"I dared not make any special preparations for Osaka, but I arranged only things that fit my current mood. If our sense is absorbed, we will sell it, and we hope that even if we do not get hooked, we will be interested in our store. I would be happy if it would be an opportunity for people in Osaka to know that there is an omoro shop called "I & I STORE" in Tokyo."
