―There are about 30 new works for this exhibition, but how long is these production periods?

Amano: It's about six months. When I think about it again, I really like drawing. That's fun and I'm doing it. But for me, it's different to draw pictures and give exhibitions. Even things that cannot be conveyed by a single picture can be invited to the story by gathering pictures at the exhibition. That's why the exhibition is thinking about the spatial composition by myself as much as possible. This time, together with the staff of Shinsaibashi PARCO, we had a lot of fun. There may be some people who come up with ideas and realize the fun of art.

―Once again, all of this VENUS series have the same elongated eyes and one character mouth. So the person who sees it first tries to recognize the face. However, if you look at it for a while, it seems that it looks like a sea of colors separated by curves, such as the gestalt collapse. This time, the size of the work may be large.

Amano: I know. I think it can be said that it is a sea of color. But even when the gestalt collapses, it must be beautiful. If you don't see it, it doesn't make sense unless it's beautiful. A good picture should be beautiful because the whole balance is balanced. For me, there are places where I am aiming for that.

―Are there any rules that are determined in the works of the VENUS series?

Amano: I wonder if it's cute. That's right. Of course, there are also my tastes and times. Why sometimes do you have black hair at overseas exhibitions? I'm often asked, and don't black people draw? It's also said that it's true. But I would like to eliminate as many messages as possible when it comes to VENUS. Is it cute for me? It's all about it. Recently, I drew it in Ukrainian colors as a charity, but I would like to eliminate messages from VENUS as much as possible.

―Is the VENUS graffiti drawn in spray a prototype of a VENUS work drawn with acrylic?

Amano: No, it's the opposite. Graffiti is a development form from acrylic in experiments. This is an experiment that is fresh for me and expands the range of VENUS.

―The VENUS series is not too close to the world of anime, so to speak, and its graffiti experiment is a world view that is different from street culture. It seems that you can see the line drawing unique to Amano here.

Amano: That's right. It's important to draw your own lines. I don't think it should be a street art or an anime. It's important not to get too close to either one. At first glance, it seems that even children can draw, but from what angle can you see it? And I've always been thinking about what I need and what I don't need. I'm careful about various lines that don't get too close to any world.
