Live painting with Seitaro Kuroda and Parco

On November 17, "Seitaro Kuroda x PARCO Live Paint & Art Wall Project Re:BIRTH!" was held prior to the grand opening of Shinsaibashi PARCO. At the venue, at Shibuya PARCO about 32 years ago, the Art Wall, featuring posters drawn by Seitaro Kuroda himself, appeared. We will deliver about an hour of live painting that I continued to draw from past pictures.

81-year-old Seitaro Kuroda, who continues to dye red, blue, yellow, and palms in intense colors by the music of the electric trumpeter Toshinori Kondo, who died suddenly just before, and his handwriting 32 years ago. The live painting, which took place on November 17, was a collaboration where many thoughts crossed beyond time and place.
The incident occurred about 200 posters found in Parco's warehouse. This poster, drawn by Seitaro Kuroda, was prepared for the "Message to the Seitaro Kuroda Coming-of-Age Ceremony: 1,000 Poster Hand Drawing Project" held at Shibuya PARCO from December 1987 to January of the following year. The poster, which had been sleeping for about 32 years, will see the day again at Shinsaibashi PARCO. Approximately 40 of the 200 pieces were exhibited at Shinsaibashi PARCO, and in the same way as the hand-drawn project in 1988, live paint again from the top of the displayed posters. The completed works will be on display at Shinsaibashi PARCO.

Seitaro Kuroda

Seitaro Kuroda

Born in Dotonbori, Osaka in 1939. The year after the end of the war, my father died of illness and became a man in the house. He dropped out of high school in a year and boarded a U.S. military landing ship. After 18 months, he got off the ship and drifted on land. At the age of 23, he longed for printing work and drifted to Yoshio Hayakawa Design Office. Even though he is not allowed to enter, he stays under Hayakawa. So I met Keisuke Nagatomo. At the age of 29, he travels to the United States and travels around the country while writing picturesque things. After his visa expired in a year, he returned to Japan and established a design office "K2" with Keisuke Nagatomo to swept the Japanese graphic scene. At the same time, he will engage in exchanges with Akiyuki Nosaka, Yoshio Harada, Yusaku Matsuda, Hibari Misora, and other artists, musicians and theatricalists. In addition, Kobe, which was damaged by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995, has been making signs for temporary shops, and has continued to go to the affected areas to make pictures. Anti-war activities, both in Japan and overseas, have continued to produce even at the age of 81, without stopping.
