What is the pop-up store "SUMMIT QUALITY" by "I & I STORE" in Shibuya, Tokyo?

"I & I STORE" is a used clothing store in Shibuya, Tokyo, packed with items that feel the culture of skating, centered on used clothes from the United States and Western Europe. The store-sponsored pop-up “SUMMIT QUALITY” was held from July 10th to 19th at the event space on the basement floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO. In addition to "I & I STORE", 3 shops + 1 brand including "DAILY DOSE quality stuff", Osaka and Horie "ECHOES" in Zushi, Kanagawa Prefecture, and "Tento", which develops handmade knit hats. The furniture such as lights and chairs that color the space will be selected by the antique shop "CopyArt Collective", which is scheduled to open in Ame Village, Osaka in August this year, making it a space where you can enjoy not only clothes but also accessories and furniture. Each lineup carefully selected according to the image of Shinsaibashi PARCO was very interesting, and the event ended with great success.

This time, we interviewed the staff of 3 shops + 1 brand who opened the store together, mainly by Teru Tanami, the signboard staff of "I & I STORE", who also works as a model and DJ. From the young fashion icon in Tokyo, you can tell us your thoughts on the present and event in Osaka. Please pay attention to the fashion that reflects each style!

―First of all, please give me a brief introduction of the features of "I & I STORE" and this pop-up.
Tanami: "I & I STORE" is a shop that mainly focuses on used clothes and imports from the United States and Western Europe. We deal with items that are carefully selected from a unique perspective that is not washed away by the times, and that can feel the culture. This event is called "SUMMIT QUALITY" and is a pop-up event held by "I & I STORE" irregularly. This event was held for the first time in about six months, and in addition to "DAILY DOSE quality stuff", which was opened at the previous Shizuoka PARCO, we realized this in cooperation with our sister store ECHOS and handmade knit hat brand <Tento>. The furniture was selected by CopyArt Collective, an antique shop that is scheduled to open in Ame Village, Osaka in August this year. The details are carefully selected to create an attractive space.

―How did you decide to pop up at Shinsaibashi PARCO in the first place?
Tanami: Originally, my owner's friend was connected with PARCO. Thankfully, I feel that we had the opportunity at Shinsaibashi PARCO this time.
―How do you feel the atmosphere of Osaka when you stand in the store?
Tanami: The first basement floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO, where the event is held, is directly connected to the station, so I think there are quite a lot of people. The customers coming and going through the aisle are men and women of all ages. I'm always in the area of Jinnan in Shibuya, so the customer service is completely different and it's very interesting.

―Have you ever felt something about the difference between fashion between Tokyo and Osaka?
Tanami: Unfortunately, we haven't been able to do sightseeing at all because of COVID-19.……。 I think the fashion of people traveling around the city is a little different from Tokyo. In Tokyo, even though it's a bit difficult to move, there are many people who feel the whole body with the mind of "fashioning is patient". On the other hand, there is a feeling that Osaka is moderately "not too hard".
―I see, that's interesting. What exactly is it?
Tanami: For example, it's like "I don't wear heavy shoes because it's hard to move" (laughs). There are many people who ride bicycles in Osaka, and I think there are many people who enjoy easy-to-live fashion that is close to their lifestyle. When I talk about it, everyone is good and friendly, and fashion and personality may be natural in a good sense.

"I didn't dare to make any special preparations for Osaka, but I arranged only things that match my current mood. If our sense is addicted, we can sell it, and even if we don't get hooked, we wish we could get interested in our shop. I would be glad if it could be a chance for people in Osaka to know that there is an Omoro shop called "I & I STORE" in Tokyo."
